May 17, 2018
The good people living in apartments for rent in Canoga Park and other members of the Northridge and Los Angeles communities are about to experience the good life once again this upcoming Memorial Day weekend. It’s such a great time of year because the weather is typically gorgeous outside in the warm California sun and there are so many different activities and events taking place that it’s hard to keep track of them all.
Are you having a difficult time choosing the best way to spend Memorial Day weekend in 2018? If you’re at a loss for fun activities, please stick around because we’ll briefly review some of the more exciting events going on in the area over that weekend.
With that said, let’s discover some entertaining Memorial Day weekend activities to participate in this year.
1. Fiesta Hermosa
This year, Memorial Day weekend takes place on May 26, 27th, and 28th in 2018. If you do not have plans already, then you should seriously consider dropping by Fiesta Hermosa to discover what all the hoopla is about for yourself.
The best part about this event is that it takes place on Hermosa Beach and the city has hosted this fun filled weekend since 1972. You’ll have a chance to participate in arts and crafts and other thrilling activities right on the beach. In fact, it is Southern California’s largest arts and crafts fair, so you’re definitely going to have a great time whether you visit by yourself, with friends and family, or anyone else for that matter.
Guess what? The best thing about this event is it’s entirely free. So you could pack your whole family into the car and spend the entire weekend on the beach without paying any admission charges whatsoever. Obviously, you’ll have to pay for food, drinks, and other amenities, but at least they aren’t going to charge you to enter the festivities.
2. St. Nicholas Valley Greek Festival
The St. Nicholas Valley Greek Festival is always a great time for everyone in attendance, whether you’re of Greek dissent or a different nationality looking to have a wonderful time with these beautiful people of Mediterranean origin.
In case you’re wondering, the Valley Greek Festival takes place throughout the entirety of Memorial Day weekend, so it begins on May 26 and ends on Monday, May 28, 2018. So even if you can’t make it all three days, you should at least stop by one day just to experience Greek culture and the exciting activities they have in store for all of the festival attendees.
As you can imagine, this festival has a rich and storied history. In fact, this year is the 45th anniversary, so the Valley Greek Festival has been a staple of the Northridge community for more than four decades and we hope that this beautiful tradition will continue for another four decades times 40 more.
At the Valley Greek Festival, there will be plenty of great tasting delicious Greek food, lots of dancing, lively music, and vendors to your heart’s desire. It’s truly going to be an amazing event for the entire family, so bring everyone along and get ready to experience a raucous weekend that you’ll never soon forget.
3. Topanga Days Country Fair
At the 45th Annual Topanga Days Country Fair, attendees are bound to have an awesome time at this not-for-profit fundraiser. Just like every other country fair, there will be a wide range of fun and exciting events and activities taking place. In fact, there is an entire area designated as the Fun Zone, where kids can participate in games, go down fun slides, jump around in bounce houses and so much more.
While in the Fun Zone, children also have the option to get temporary tattoos, face painting, and so much more. Adults are going to love it because their kids are going to have a great time and when the children are happy, the adults typically tend to smile.
So remember to bring your kids and let loose your inner child while in attendance. Walk around, play, and maybe even jump in the bounce house as an adult! Just get ready for a whole lot of fun.
Besides the area for the kids, there’s also going to be live music throughout the weekend as well. Exciting local and regional acts like Pacific Range, Paintbox, FNTN, Backseat Pilots, Milo Green, and other great bands are going to be here taking care of your musical entertainment. So get ready to groove to the music as you kick back, relax, and have a great time with other members of your community.
And let’s not forget about the Topanga Days Memorial Day Parade. It’s going to be held on Monday, May 28, at 8:30 AM. It is located at Topanga Canyon Boulevard between Cheney Drive and Pine Tree Circle. It typically lasts till around noon, so get ready to spend a few hours checking out marching bands, parade floats, and other exciting celebrants.
4. USS Iowa Military Appreciation Day
This special celebration will take place in San Pedro, California on the USS Iowa on May 29, 2018 at 10 AM. This event is a way to celebrate the men and women in the military who fell protecting our nation.
The military appreciation day is about so much more than paying homage to the brave soldiers defending our country though. It’s also a day for the living to get together to celebrate Memorial Day, have a great time being entertained, eating great food, playing wonderful games, and enjoying a special carnival for everyone in the community.
So if you live in the San Pedro area and want something fun to do over Memorial Day weekend, we highly recommend visiting the USS Iowa for Military Appreciation Day on May 29, 2018.
