Oktoberfest in LA - Alder Apartments Northridge

Fall is finally in full swing this year, and the season is never complete without attending one of Cali's outstanding Oktoberfest events. With so many events in the area, though, it can be tough to know which one is worth your time. Luckily, those living in the Canoga Park apartments or Northridge areas are just a short drive away from the ultimate German celebration in L.A., the Oktoberfest at Alpine Village.

    Why Alpine Village?

As the website says, "Willkommen to Alpine Village!" Considered by many to be California's own slice of Bavaria, this town is as German as German gets. Aside from the exquisite shopping and fine dining that draws people here year-round, Alpine Village draws in the crowd each year with the longest-standing Oktoberfest in California.

The bratwurst eating and imported craft beer drinking has been going on in this middle-European themed town for over 40 years, which has given them plenty of time to master the event. Speaking of drinking and eating, here's what you can expect.

    The Alpine Market

This is the bakery, butcher, bottle and import all-in-one shop. It's the best German marketplace in the area, but also offers a wide variety of elusive European foods is you're looking for something special. Inside the building sits an authentic European bakery that serves up some of the finest in breads and baked delights, as well as a renowned butcher shop that produces Southern California's finest sausage.

The import grocery is exactly what it sounds like, a grocery store filled with all sorts of imported products. As for the bottle shop portion, there's no place better to hunt down an out of this world craft beer. The bottle shop is also home to liquors and wines for those who prefer something a little different.

    The Alpine Village Restaurant

Nothing screams Oktoberfest quite like food from overseas, and this European style tavern delivers just that. Artisan sausage is made in-house alongside a large selection of German and other European favorites. The menu has recently been updated, which is exciting for anyone who knows how amazing this location is. You can always get something more American here, too, but what fun is that?

Best of all, you can wash down your meal with a vast selection of craft beers from the hoppiest of IPAs to the darkest of stouts. You won't find a dining experience like the Alpine Village restaurant anywhere else.

    The Main Event

Alright, you can visit the above locations anytime of year, but what actually makes Oktoberfest in Alpine so wunderbar? Aside from being the oldest celebration of its kind in the SoCal area, it's also one of the most authentic. Sure, you can see lederhosens and drink beer anywhere from San Francisco to your living room couch, but Alpine is the only place that celebrates the "holiday" in traditional Bavarian style.

From the outfits to the beer, every single part of this event has been carefully crafted with true German style and brews. You can say any dark beer is from Germany, but one sip of Warsteiner's premium German pilsner will send your taste buds on a trip to Deutschland. Warsteiner offers a unique variety of traditional brewed beverages, all of which are sure to please. Couple that with the authentic food, music, and outfits, and you have the closest thing to a historic European Oktoberfest possible without traveling back in time.

There is, of course, plenty of modern fun to be had as well. The Alpine Village restaurant features DJs every Sunday night, 8 different bands in October alone, and live entertainment all day long every Thursday.

    Shopping

It's worth mentioning that a trip to Alpine village give you the opportunity to browse a unique selection of stores. There's the clock sales and repair store, for instance, and Romantic Treasures if you're looking to pick something up for a special someone. Collector's Gallery Antiques offers a variety of rarities, while the local cosmetics and hair salon make for an amazing makeover.

That's just the tip of the iceberg, though. You'll have to see what else perks your interest out of the 18 European styled stores.
