4th of July 2019 in LA

Hands waving small United States flags amid a fireworks display

Summer’s in full swing, which means Independence Day is right around the corner. Now, you don’t necessarily have to leave the Alder luxury apartment homes to have an enjoyable 4th of July, but if you’re interested in checking out the hottest parties, festivals, and events that will be coinciding with July 4th this year, you’re going to want to make some plans to hit the streets. Which events should be near the top of your list this year, you might be wondering? Read on, because today, we’re going to be taking a look at the LA area’s most prominent Independence Day spectacles.

Kick Things Off With some Pre-4th Music

For fans of DJ and Hip-Hop music, the annual “Hoodfest” is something of a pre-4th of July tradition now, and a good way to catch up on some artists you might have overlooked (but should surely listen to at least once). This year, the lineup will include Destruct, Mai, Suge Nice, Oddy, Mic Nif, Gilz, and DJ Tasko mixing it up with DJ talent. There will also be an outdoor patio area to relax and socialize, along with a full bar so you can have a drink or two to accompany the evening.

Support the Home Team at Dodger Stadium

We might be a bit biased, but it seems like a July 4th spent watching a baseball game is one of the best ways to do it. This year, you can enjoy the wonders of Dodger Stadium on July 4th, while you watch the LA Dodgers take on the San Diego Padres. You’ll enjoy a riveting night of baseball (if you’re the type who enjoys the sport), but even if you aren’t the ballpark amenities, pretzels, and ample amounts of beer should be enough to make a trip here worth your while. To top it off, there will be a fireworks celebration taking place after the game, which should be somewhere between 9:00PM and 10:00PM. If you have fun on the 4th, come back on the 5th, because the Dodgers will be squaring off the Padres one more time before they leave town.

Try A Block Party at Grand Park

If you thought there wouldn’t be anything to do in Downtown Los Angeles, you were sorely mistaken, as the Block Party at Grand Park will be transforming this already lively city space into a literal block party for all Angelenos to come and enjoy. There will be music, of course, taking place on two main stages (and featuring a variety of talented artists). What’s more, activities for families (along with plenty of food and drink to go around) will be there for you to enjoy if you so choose. After the party runs its course, they’ll be treating everyone to a rather impressive fireworks show over from the Grand Park Event Lawn.

Show Some American Pride at the Palisades Parade

Pacific Palisades is a northwest LA Community that excites on Independence Day every year with their Annual Americanism Parade. This year’s installment will be the 71st, and like every year, will feature a plethora of fun events to go along with it. There’s the Palisades Will Rogers 5 & 10K runs will take participants through Will Rogers State Historic Park, and proceeds raised will go to help out youth charities and activities groups. Then there’s the main event, the parade itself. You’ll see all sorts of imaginative and creative floats entered in the parade, along with the marchers, dancers, musicians, and more. It’s all free to attend, with the exception of the concert and fireworks display at the Palisades Charter High School afterwards, which you’ll need to purchase a ticket for.

See the Fireworks at the Hollywood Bowl

Everyone knows the Hollywood Bowl throws a big spectacular for the 4th of July, and this year will be no different. The so-called July 4th Fireworks Spectacular will take place over July 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, featuring a lineup of electrifying orchestral performances (among others) and concluding with a knock-your-socks-off show of powerful fireworks. If you want to get there a bit early, you’ll also be able to partake of the delicious food and beverage options they have available for purchase, which should make for a lovely accompaniment to the show.

Attend the Family Hotel Party in Redondo Beach

“Family-friendly” and “hotel party” might not seem like words you’d normally use in combination, but that’s exactly what’s taking place at the Shade Hotel in Redondo Beach, at their Sky Level Family 4th of July Party. Bring the family along, and enjoy an epic July 4th bash, “complete with a full bar, BBQ buffet, and kids activities including games, crafts and face painting.” As is customary for Independence Day activities, this one will also include a grandiose fireworks display, to take place after all have had fun mixing and mingling.

Try a 4th of July on a Boat

4th of July on a boat is a great way to mix things up, and this time, you can check experience Independence Day aboard the deck of the legendary Queen Mary. Head to Long Beach, climb on board, and revel in their “All American 4th of July,” which will feature “live entertainment, family games, arts & crafts, special historic tours, and so much more.” It’s likely to be a packed house, so make sure you snag those tickets early so you can reserve a spot and have a great time.
